Rafiq is a daily reflection app. To choose and write a message that fits your day, it needs to know a little about you. This policy explains what we keep, why, who helps us run Rafiq, and how you stay in control. In short: we use what you share only to write your messages and answers, we do not sell it or show you ads, and you can delete everything from the app.
What we keep
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your account: the email or private relay address from Sign in with Apple or Google | To sign you in and keep your profile safe across phones |
| Your profile: your name, language, avatar, message time and time zone, and your answers during onboarding | To write messages that fit you and send them at your time |
| Daily check-ins: mood, the areas on your plate, and anything you choose to write | To choose and write today's message |
| What Rafiq remembers: short notes about things you mentioned (for example "job interview on Thursday") and a summary of your profile | To follow up and make later messages fit better. You can see and delete these in the app under "What the app remembers" |
| Your messages, whether you did their step, which ones you saved, and your ratings | To show your history, avoid repeats, and improve Rafiq |
| Questions you ask in "Ask about this verse" and "Talk it through", and their answers (Plus) | To keep the conversation and, for your messages, to help Rafiq know you better |
| A notification token for your iPhone, and a key for the Home Screen widget | To deliver your message and show it in the widget |
What you read in the Quran section (your last page, downloaded pages and fonts, your reciter and translation choices) stays on your phone.
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Who helps us run Rafiq
- Supabase stores your account and data (servers in Mumbai, India).
- OpenAI writes the reflection in your messages and the chat answers. We send it what it needs for that request: your profile, your recent check-ins and the texts and explanations it writes about. Under OpenAI's API terms, this data is not used to train their models; OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to prevent abuse.
- Apple delivers notifications, handles Sign in with Apple and processes Plus payments. We never see your card details.
- Google handles Sign in with Google, if you choose it.
- The Quran Foundation provides mushaf pages, translations, tafsirs and recitations, and QuranicAudio and EveryAyah stream the recitations. Your phone connects to them directly, so they see its internet address, but we send them nothing about you.
We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, check-ins, messages, ratings and chats are deleted straight away, and with Sign in with Apple we also revoke Rafiq's access to your Apple ID. Our server's technical logs record which addresses were requested, not what you wrote, and are cleared regularly.
Your choices
- See and change: edit your profile and name in the app, and see or delete what Rafiq remembers.
- Delete everything: in the app, go to Profile, Account, Delete account. If you cannot reach the app, email us from the address on your account and we will delete it within 7 days.
- Ask us: for a copy of your data or any question about it, email [email protected].
Children
Rafiq is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used Rafiq, contact us and we will delete their account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
